Cybersecurity awareness business - Visma Amili | Phantom'sLab

Phantom’sLab in software

  • Organization: Visma Amili
  • Name: Kevin Sheikh
  • Role: Workplace Experience & IT Specialist
  • Why: We wanted to increase awareness around cyber risks and strengthen our security culture. We were looking for an approach that was not only educational, but also fun and accessible for all employees.
“What stood out most was the high level of engagement from every participant. The competitive element didn’t just make it more fun – it made it more effective.”

Case summary

The challenge

Creating cybersecurity awareness that truly sticks. We wanted employees to experience how quickly a simple mistake can lead to serious consequences, without dull theory or mandatory training. It had to feel like an experience, not a lesson. We also wanted to reinforce our existing e-learning and boost engagement across the board.

The experience

Instead of a traditional classroom session, employees stepped into the world of digital hackers. The feedback was unanimously positive: enthusiastic, engaged, and often surprised by how easily cybercriminals operate. The competitive nature added energy and motivation. Participants worked together, shared insights, and stayed actively involved throughout the entire session.

What really stood out: the game engaged everyone, regardless of technical background or role. During play, people immediately realized how vulnerable you can be. Those ‘aha’ moments are what turn knowledge into true understanding. Employees became significantly more aware of digital risks and started making connections to their daily work. They recognized phishing patterns, understood social engineering tactics, and saw firsthand how small security gaps can lead to major breaches.

The outcome

The impact was immediate and lasting. Employees now take extra verification steps when logging in, are more cautious with emails from unknown senders, and proactively report suspicious activity. We’ve seen a clear increase in participation in our existing e-learning programs and a noticeable shift towards a culture of vigilance. Cyber Crime Game helped us transform cybersecurity from an abstract concept into a shared, tangible responsibility.
