Case summary

The challenge

Vast en Goed, as a family business, works intensively with people, confidential data, and long-term collaborations. The organization thrives on reliability, humanity, and integrity, which makes it an attractive target for cybercriminals who exploit trust. The challenge was to show the team that modern attacks don’t necessarily start as technical threats, but relational ones: based on human interaction, timing, and familiar requests. Therefore, there was a need for training that not only explains the risks but also shows how quickly a situation can go wrong, even with an experienced and engaged team.

The experience

Phantom’s Game made an immediate impression. The professional visuals, sound, and storytelling immediately pulled everyone into the game. The scenarios felt realistic, with familiar situations where pressure, urgency, or personal details are used to trigger a reaction. Participants noticed how easy it is to trust a request when it fits into daily routines or appears to come from a known relationship.

The strength of the experience lay in its cinematic nature: it didn’t feel like training, but like an immersive story where every choice matters. This made it clear how subtly attackers work and how a small moment of inattention can lead to major consequences. The game provided the perfect balance of excitement, insight, and professionalism, fitting for an organization in the real estate sector with high privacy and trust demands.

The outcome

The game led to a tangible shift in awareness. Employees became more critical when reviewing digital requests, now taking extra verification steps more frequently and actively discussing doubts with each other. Cybersecurity became a shared responsibility within daily processes, aligning with the collaborative culture that Vast en Goed values. The training emphasized that even organizations that operate carefully and with integrity remain vulnerable to attacks that target human attention and trust. It showed that a close-knit team makes all the difference in digital resilience.
