Cybersecurity awareness business - BAM Infra | Phantom'sLab

Phantom’sLab in Construction & Real Estate

  • Organization: BAM Infra Netherlands
  • Name: Christy Mohamedhoesein
  • Role: Cybersecurity and Machine Safety Specialist
  • Why: As a large infrastructure construction organization working daily with sensitive project information, bids, and contracts, digital security is crucial. We were looking for a way to increase awareness that resonates with our employees: hands on, practical, and genuinely impactful.
“The interactive approach and competitive element suddenly made cybersecurity very tangible and relevant for everyone.”

Case summary

The challenge

In a large organization like BAM Infra, different departments work with various digital systems and sensitive data. From project managers at construction sites to estimators at the office, everyone represents a potential link in the cybersecurity chain. The challenge was reaching employees with different backgrounds and digital skill levels with one consistent message: digital security is everyone’s responsibility. For the management meeting, we wanted to try something different. Something new and fun that holds attention and actually sticks, instead of the same standard presentations again.

The experience

The game was received with enthusiasm and engagement by all participants from the moment it began. What immediately stood out was how the interactive and practical approach ensured that employees were fully immersed in realistic cyber threats. Everyone played individually on their own laptop, but the live leaderboard created an energy you rarely see in traditional training sessions.

The competitive element worked remarkably well. Colleagues were focused, motivated, and challenged to deliver their best performance while learning critical security concepts. The clarity with which cyber threats were conveyed resonated directly with employees across all roles. They recognized scenarios from their own work context: phishing emails that resembled actual project communications, social engineering tactics aimed at gaining access to company systems, and data breaches that could compromise sensitive bid information. That recognition ensured the lesson was not only educational but also directly relevant and personally meaningful to their daily responsibilities.

The outcome

The impact is noticeable in daily behavior across the entire organization. Employees are now much more cautious with emails from unknown senders, consistently take multiple verification steps when logging into systems, and understand how easily personal and company information can be misused. More importantly, employees now grasp that a simple mistake can quickly lead to serious consequences for projects, clients, and the organization. That realization has strengthened our security culture and increased alertness throughout BAM Infra, transforming cybersecurity from an IT topic into an organization wide responsibility.
