Cybersecurity awareness business - Ezzy's | Phantom'sLab

Phantom’sLab in Hospitality

  • Organization: Ezzy’s
  • Name: Roel Driessen
  • Role: CEO
  • Why: Managing swimming facilities at 10 locations means dealing with sensitive customer information, scheduling systems, and operational data. We needed to understand cybersecurity threats beyond theoretical presentations and gain practical insight into how our organization could be vulnerable to attacks.
“The topic really comes to life. Because it’s an interactive game, you become much more engaged than with standard training. The game is easy to play and immerses you in an unfamiliar world.”

Case summary

The challenge

Understanding cybersecurity in a practical, engaging way while managing multiple locations with different systems and customer databases. Traditional presentations about digital security don’t create the depth needed to truly protect an organization. As a team managing facilities at different locations, we needed to understand how hackers really think and work, and how vulnerable our predictable patterns and publicly available information make us. The challenge was finding an approach that would make an unfamiliar, technical subject accessible and usable for the entire team.

The experience

The interactive game format brought cybersecurity to life in ways that passive presentations never could. With 15 employees playing the game, it created genuine engagement with material that might otherwise feel abstract or irrelevant to daily operations. The ease of playing made the experience accessible, while the content immersed the team in the unfamiliar world of hacking and opened eyes to how hackers operate.

What struck most was discovering how predictable human behavior actually is and how much information about individuals and organizations is available online. These weren’t abstract concepts but demonstrated realities experienced firsthand during gameplay. The game revealed vulnerabilities the team hadn’t previously considered and showed how attackers piece together publicly available information to construct convincing attacks. This hands-on exploration created understanding that goes much deeper than any presentation could achieve.

The outcome

The awareness from the game has fundamentally changed how the team thinks about digital security across the different locations. Understanding that we’re more predictable than we think and that extensive information is available online about the organization and customers has made the team significantly more careful and strategic about data, communication, and operational security. The practical insights into how hackers work now influence decision-making at all locations, allowing the team to protect both the company and the families who trust them with their information.
