Cybersecurity awareness business - Synaxion B.V. | Phantom'sLab

Phantom’sLab in software

  • Organization: Synaxion B.V.
  • Name: Andre Kuijt
  • Role: Manager R&D
  • Why: We wanted to increase awareness of cyber threats while boosting engagement with our existing e-learning program. We needed something enjoyable and educational that would complement our current training and make cybersecurity feel more relevant and actionable for our technical teams.
“Phantom’s Game showed us how quickly a simple mistake can lead to serious consequences. That realization has made our team much more proactive about security.”

Case summary

The challenge

Revitalizing engagement with existing cybersecurity training while increasing overall awareness of digital threats. Our e-learning program provided valuable content, but participation and enthusiasm were inconsistent. We needed an approach that would re-energize our team’s interest in cybersecurity, complement our existing training materials, and create the kind of practical understanding that translates into changed behavior. The challenge was finding something that would resonate with our technically sophisticated team while still delivering fresh insights.

The experience

The game generated mixed but largely positive reactions, which reflected the diverse technical backgrounds within our team. What stood out most was the interactive and practical approach that made abstract threats suddenly concrete and relatable. The competitive element added significant value, making the experience more enjoyable and effective while encouraging deeper engagement with the material.

The clarity with which cyberdreigingen were conveyed resonated strongly with participants. Even team members with strong technical knowledge found themselves surprised by how realistic the scenarios felt and how easily they could imagine falling victim to similar tactics. The game created immediate connections between theoretical security concepts and practical daily work situations, bridging the gap that traditional e-learning sometimes struggles to cross. Discussions during and after the game revealed genuine interest and prompted colleagues to reconsider their own digital habits.

The outcome

The impact extended beyond the game itself. We saw increased awareness of digital risks and cyber threats throughout the organization, with employees now understanding how easily personal information can be misused. More significantly, participation and engagement with our existing e-learning program increased noticeably. Team members became more active in reporting suspicious activities and sharing security knowledge with colleagues. The game successfully complemented our e-learning by providing the experiential component that makes theoretical knowledge stick and transform into lasting behavioral change.
