Cybersecurity awareness business - Fransen Gerrits | Phantom'sLab

Phantom’sLab in the feed industry

  • Organization: Fransen Gerrits
  • Name: Huub Fransen
  • Role: Owner
  • Why: We believe our people need to understand how to handle digital risks, especially since our insurer strongly emphasizes it. We needed something that would truly stick with our team, not just another standard awareness training that gets forgotten immediately afterwards.
“Fun and educational. A must for any organization that wants more than just a dry presentation on cybersecurity.”

Case summary

The challenge

Raising awareness around cyber threats in a way that would genuinely resonate with our team. We didn’t want standard training that people sit through passively and forget the next day. It needed to be an interactive experience that gets people truly thinking and talking afterwards. The key questions we wanted to address: how easily can you be deceived? And how strong is your team when it really matters?

The experience

Eighteen people played the game together in the same room, and the level of focus was remarkable from the very start. The atmosphere became intense as everyone engaged deeply with the scenarios, leaning forward in their chairs and actively discussing each decision. What surprised us most was how even team members who typically aren’t interested in this type of activity joined in enthusiastically and actually succeeded.

The competitive element added exactly the right amount of drive. After all, everyone wants to win. People worked together, shared insights, and pushed each other to think critically about every decision. You could feel the energy in the room shift as teams realized how realistic the scenarios were and how easily they could fall victim to the same tactics in real life. The game created genuine teamwork around a topic that can often feel individual and technical. Watching colleagues who rarely interact collaborate intensely on cybersecurity challenges was remarkable in itself.

The outcome

The biggest gain was increased awareness across the entire team. The game clearly demonstrated how easily things can go wrong when you’re not alert, making abstract risks suddenly concrete and personal. It prompted genuine reflection on how vulnerable we actually are and how important it is not to trust too easily. Our team now approaches digital interactions with healthy skepticism, understanding that cybersecurity isn’t just an IT issue but something that affects everyone’s daily work.
